Each day I try to list out the three most important tasks of the day. These tasks are how I will define success for my day. It’s important for many reasons:
* I believe it helps us to delay gratification in our daily work life — focusing on building something great over the long run instead of getting a quick fix of accomplishment that comes through the feeling of busyness we get when we spend our time checking twitter and email while not actually accomplishing anything.
* It helps us finish the day with a sense of accomplishment, knowing that the most valuable and important projects were accomplished, not deferred.
* It helps us continue to move forward in doing our best creative work because we are giving the focus of our time and energy to doing work that has value.
